How Do You Remove Prints from Clothes?
Removing prints from clothes is a challenge, as we develop our transfers to adhere well – correctly applied throughout the garment’s lifetime.
So the short answer is: no, you cannot remove a logo from clothes.
However, it is an important issue as more and more companies try – or must – create circular processes and work models to become more sustainable.
We can no longer throw away clothes that are intact, for example when businesses rebrand their logo or when garments are misprinted.
So, how do you remove a print from clothes? Is it even possible?
We delve into the subject.
Different methods for removing prints from clothes
There are several methods circulating for removing prints from clothes.
For example, reheating the print beyond its tolerance and attempting to scrape it off. Another method is using different types of fluids, such as acetone.
We at Hot Screen do not recommend these approaches. There is a significant risk of damaging or ruining the garment.
In addition, these methods are difficult to scale into an efficient workflow.
Sustainability – especially reducing waste – is an important focus for us.
We aim to run a business that not only optimises internal processes but also helps customers make better, more sustainable decisions.
Among other initiatives, we support a sustainability project aimed at removing prints from garments, where we contribute machines and materials.
Until that challenge is fully solved, we offer our own practical solution.
Removing prints from clothes the Hot Screen way

Our solution is not about removing the print – but covering it.
By applying a new print on top of the old one, you can give the garment a new life.
This method is similar to a standard application, but with a few important adjustments.
We have developed a workflow that you should follow carefully to achieve the best result.
New print over an old one – here’s how you do it
For best results, use our Stark Heat Transfer – preferably with a Blocker add-on.
This is especially important when placing a light print over a darker one, to prevent the old design from showing through.
We do not recommend using Flex Heat Transfer on top of an old Stark print, as the underlying print may become visible.
The new print should also be slightly larger than the old one.
If the margins are too tight, there is a risk that the old print will show at the edges if the placement is not perfectly aligned.
